Our commitment to service excellence is a defining characteristic of what we do. We are honored to provide benefits — a call that we take seriously. Part of the value of partnering with the Board of Pensions can be found in the administrative resources and personalized service support we provide throughout the year.

The 2025 Benefits Plan, updated to better meet the needs of the changing Church, includes several benefits enhancements that provide even greater value. Learn about the 2025 Benefits Plan.

Benefits considerations

Effective salary

Effective salary includes various types of compensation and/or reimbursements paid by employers to employees. Unique to the Board of Pensions, effective salary is not the same as the taxable income reported to the IRS or the Social Security Administration.

Benefits packages and dues incentive programs

We offer packages and programs that support the well-being of ministers and their families, as well as the long-term vitality of PC(USA) congregations. Pastor's Participation is a comprehensive benefits package for ministers, while Minister's Choice provides important financial protection for ministers who are not in installed positions. Benefits Grants for Organizing Pastors bring organizing pastors and evangelists into Pastor's Participation at reduced dues.

Benefits with no hourly work requirement

Employers can choose from several benefits options that have no hourly work requirements for employees to participate. Consider these options for both full- and part-time employees.
