Four ways to help employees get ready for annual enrollment

October 10, 2022
Annual enrollment for 2023 benefits starts in just two weeks. Employers can take steps now to help employees prepare for this important time.

This year’s annual enrollment is October 24 through November 11. As this time approaches, remind employees that annual enrollment is their opportunity to make sure they will have the benefits they want — and that will best meet their needs — for 2023.

Here are four ways to help employees get ready:

  1. Encourage employees to log on to Benefits Connect to review their current benefits and covered family members and consider whether the same coverage will meet their needs next year.
  2. Provide employees with information about annual enrollment and the benefits available to them for 2023. The annual enrollment toolkit contains promotional and educational materials you can share with employees, including
    • posters, flyers, and videos;
    • benefits overviews and Medical Plan Key Provisions;
    • an annual enrollment checklist and quick start guide; and
    • content for an annual enrollment newsletter.
  3. Tell employees to watch their home mailbox and email inbox for important communications about annual enrollment from the Board of Pensions, and encourage them to visit pensions.org/enroll to learn more.
  4. Remind employees that the upcoming annual enrollment period is their one opportunity to elect benefits or make changes to their coverage for 2023 unless they experience a qualifying life event during the year.
