Four ways to get the most from your prescription drug benefits

January 04, 2021

Members with medical coverage through the Board have access to tools and resources from Express Scripts to help them manage their medications and get the most from their prescription drug benefits.

With the move to Express Scripts effective January 1, 2021, employees and retired members with medical coverage through the Board of Pensions* have access to new tools to help them manage their medications, along with ways to save money. If you have medical coverage through the Board, here are four things you can do now to help you make the most of your prescription drug benefits throughout the year.

  1. Carry your Express Scripts prescription ID card. Present your card when filling prescriptions for yourself or a covered family member at participating Express Scripts pharmacies. If you have not received your welcome package and new prescription ID cards, contact Express Scripts at 800-344-3896. Retired members should call 877-856-4694.
  2. Register with Use the secure Express Scripts website to manage your medications 24/7 from the privacy of your home. Register today and log on any time to
    • find Express Scripts network pharmacies;
    • use the Price a Medication tool to compare prices of medications at multiple pharmacies;
    • order refills, check order status, and track shipments of medications you fill through mail-order;
    • chat with a pharmacist and find the latest information on your medication, including possible side effects and interactions; and
    • print forms and ID cards if needed.
  3. Download the Express Scripts mobile app. You can use the free mobile app, available from the iOS App Store or Google Play, to find nearby pharmacies and get directions, check for lower-cost prescription options covered by the plan, and display a virtual prescription ID card while on the go. And, if you have touch or facial ID authentication on your mobile device, you can enable it to log on to your Express Scripts account on the app.
  4. Get started with Express Scripts Pharmacy home delivery. With home delivery you'll pay less for a 90-day supply of your medication than you would at a retail pharmacy. Remaining refills with OptumRx home delivery were transferred to Express Scripts January 2. When you need to reorder your medication, log on to the Express Scripts website or call Express Scripts customer service. (Note: Expired prescriptions, prescriptions for controlled substances, and prescriptions with no refills will not be transferred.)
