New mental well-being and EAP services for 2025

Starting Jan. 1, 2025, Spring Health will replace Cigna as the Employee Assistance Plan (EAP) provider. Spring Health offers an expanded provider network and mental health care navigation, along with the EAP services members know — and offers support when and where it's needed most.

Who's eligible | Mental health care navigation to meet your needs | No-cost therapy visits and coaching |  Integrated access with the Medical Plan | Cigna authorization codes | Additional EAP services | Connect with Spring Health

The Board of Pensions is pleased to introduce EAP services from Spring Health, bringing eligible members fast access to resources and treatment. We are partnering with Spring Health and Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) to offer this new service.

Who's eligible

You have access to EAP services if you are enrolled in the:

  • PPO, EPO, or HDHP medical options
  • EAP without medical coverage (for example, through the Covenant Package)

Spring Health offers personalized support to connect you with resources and treatment to meet your needs, including coaching, therapy, and psychiatric care. And, on average, Spring Health can connect you with providers that meet your specific care needs within three days. That means you get the right care when you need it.

Mental health care navigators are available to walk you through every step of your journey, tailoring care plans to your needs and advocating for you. They can:

  • advocate for your immediate needs
  • discuss long-term goals
  • review your digital mental health self-assessment
  • recommend care options
  • provide emotional support
  • book appointments for you

No-cost therapy visits and coaching

You have access to six clinical therapy sessions per year with a Spring Health provider at no cost to you — including both in-person and virtual appointments. You can also access specialized services through the Spring Health website and app that make it convenient for you to identify your needs, then plan and access virtual or in-person care from anywhere:

  • Conduct a digital self-assessment to screen for mental health needs, then receive guidance to find personalized care and providers.
  • Search and filter for providers by specialty, including faith-based care, ethnicity, language, and gender.
  • View availability and schedule appointments, including therapy and medication management appointments.
  • Access mental health exercises to develop long-term skills or get immediate relief anytime, anywhere.

In addition to the six no-cost therapy visits, you have unlimited virtual access to certified coaches who can help you:

  • build better habits
  • navigate life’s transitions
  • improve communication skills
  • set and achieve goals on topics including personal development, health and wellness, and parenting

Integrated access with the Medical Plan

Spring Health is fully integrated with Highmark BCBS medical coverage through the Benefits Plan of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) to provide ongoing outpatient care and a higher level of treatment for Medical Plan members who have additional needs:

  • If you are using a Spring Health provider, you can remain in treatment with that provider without interruption to care or benefits, after using the six no-cost therapy visits. Regular plan copays, deductibles, and/or coinsurance apply after the sixth visit.
  • Therapy sessions and medication management are also available for your covered family members, ages six and up.
  • Spring Health’s partnership with Highmark BCBS effectively adds around 10,000 more providers to the Medical Plan’s network, giving you more options for easier access.

Cigna authorization codes

If you receive an authorization code from Cigna prior to Dec. 31, 2024, for counseling visits at no cost to you through a Cigna EAP provider, you will have six months from the date of receipt to use that code.

Additional EAP services

Spring Health provides many of the EAP services you are already familiar with, including:

  • guidance and support based on your personal work/life needs, like home care and repair referrals, legal and financial assistance, moving and travel resources, pet care and training, education and schooling, and adoption and relocation services
  • crisis support for immediate assistance from a licensed professional, without the need for you to register or log in to your account
  • no-cost management consultation services for employers for a variety of workplace issues ranging from employee performance to natural disasters
